Hillel at SMU is your Jewish home away from home, a group for meaningful relationships, joyful Jewish celebrations, deep conversations, service, learning, and fun activities.

Led by Executive Director Rabbi Heidi Coretz, Director of Jewish Student Life Ali Vogel, our dedicated Student Board, and our committed Advisory Board, Hillel at SMU is the Jewish home away from home for more than 600 Jewish Mustangs.

At the heart of our community is Hillel Home in Prothro 208—a warm, welcoming space where students can stop by to enjoy a delicious snack, specialty coffee or tea, study between classes, meet new friends, or simply relax. Whether you're looking for meaningful conversation, a quiet place to recharge, games, crafts, gaming on our large TV, or a vibrant community, you'll always find friendly faces and open doors.

Throughout the year, Hillel offers opportunities to celebrate, learn, grow, and connect through Shabbat dinners, Jewish holiday celebrations, the Jewish Learning Fellowship, social gatherings, leadership opportunities, service projects, and meaningful conversations about Jewish life and Israel.

Our mission is to nurture each student's Jewish journey by creating a caring community where every student feels seen, valued, and inspired. Together, we empower students to deepen their Jewish identity, build lifelong friendships, strengthen the Jewish people, and make a positive impact on the world.

As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Hillel at SMU relies on the generosity of our community to make our work possible. We are deeply grateful for the steadfast support of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, The Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County,  local foundations, generous donors, parents, alumni, students, and friends.

Every gift helps create a vibrant Jewish home away from home where more than 600 Jewish Mustangs can celebrate, learn, lead, and build lifelong friendships. Together, we are strengthening Jewish life on the Hilltop and investing in the next generation of Jewish leaders.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that every Jewish student at SMU has a welcoming community where they can thrive.
